Two new Downtown Allentown art exhibitions to open over the next week

Over the next week, Downtown Allentown will welcome two exciting new art exhibits to the community, one at the Renaissance Allentown Hotel in partnership with the Allentown Art Museum and the other at RE:Find’s pop-up art show in the retailer’s new space on the first floor of STRATA Flats at Four City Center. Both exhibitions are free and open to the public.

Thursday, October 8  – Saturday, October 10, 2015

The owners of RE:Find, a home furnishings boutique opening later this month in Four City Center, will hold a three-day art show called “Hello Allentown” in their store’s space at 27 N. Seventh St. The pop-up show will feature large-scale art by several Lehigh Valley artists, including Chaz Hampton, Michael Schade, Rigo Peralta, Ramon Peralta, Marta Whistler, Angel Suarez-Rosado, Ellie Albrecht, Susan Molina-Washington, Melissa Strawser, Jo Irizarry, Arturo Cabrera, See Tf, Chris Jones and others.

“’Hello Allentown’ is intended as a kind of preopening party to show off our new space in Downtown Allentown and highlight larger art pieces by some of the artists we work with,” said RE:Find Design Director Jon Clark. “RE:Find can’t wait to open in Allentown.”

RE:Find hopes to present additional pop-up art shows in vacant retail space in Downtown Allentown through at least the end of this year.

Thursday’s opening reception from 4:00 – 8:00pm will feature music, food and beverages and is open to the public. The show is also open on Friday and Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m. The art will be for sale throughout the show.

An opening cocktail reception will be held Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. The quarterly exhibitions are part of the hotel’s RLifeLIVE event series.

More art to explore

In addition to the two art exhibits opening this week, City Center will also welcome Popmart on Friday, October 9, on the Allentown ArtsWalk extension. The boutique offers art along with clothing and accessories, and the owners plan to hold monthly art exhibition openings in the future. “Popmart is excited to introduce art through its Allentown location, and we think our spot on the ArtsWalk will be a great tie-in with the local arts community,” Popmart co-owner and designer Christi Garton said.
